Smorgasburg

On Saturday afternoon, I met a good friend down at Smorgasburg in Williamsburg to taste test some of the fabulous local vendors' tasty treats. On this particular May day, the sky was cloudy and, though the weather was temperate and mild, rain threatened. This made it the perfect day to visit the usually crowded Williamsburg haunt. From Blue Bottle Coffee Company's near-perfect cup of coffee (though I tend to prefer French press myself) to Kumquat Cupcakery's red velvet mini-cupcake, wandering and tasting the food in these tents is a treat! My personal favorite indulgence? Asia Dog's "Sydney: Thai Style," which  blends mango, cucumber, cilantro and onion relish with crushed peanuts...Don't knock it 'til you try it...yummm...
After taste-testing, we wandered down by the water, which, being a NYC waterway, has that lovely sign in the background "Danger: Keep out of water!" All in all a lovely Cinco de Mayo afternoon...
If you've not been, be sure to add Smorgasburg to your "To Do" lists...
